Tatyana Ali and Emmerson Brooks Win Daytime NAACP Image Awards

The Young and the Restless’ Tatyana Ali and All My Children’s Emerson Brooks took home Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Actor awards at the 2012 NAACP Image Awards on February 17. It was also a big night for The Help, which won Outstanding Motion Picture and earned awards for Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer in Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress respectively. 

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Tyler Perry’s House of Paynewon in the drama and comedy categories. Oprah’s Lifeclass beat out the competition for Outstanding Talk Series. For the full list of 2012 NAACP Image Award winners visit Zap2it. See more photos from the award show after the jump!

Should Ryan Seacrest Replace Matt Lauer on The Today Show?

According to the Wall Street Journal, NBC executives have approached American Idol host and purveyor of all things Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, about possibly becoming Matt Lauer’s successor at The Today Show.  Talk about a head scratcher.

I grew up watching Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel anchor NBC’s Today. I enjoyed Katie Couric and Matt Lauer’s time together. After Couric left for the CBS Evening News, I welcomed Meredith Vieira’s addition to the morning show. When Vieira decided to leave and Ann Curry took over, the transition was seamless.  I wouldn’t watch Today with Seacrest as a primary host. I’d just spend more time watching Morning Joe or replace Today with Good Morning America.

Bob Barker and Pamela Anderson Among Famous Vegetarians Honored by PETA

Daytime icon Bob Barker and upcoming Virgin Mary Pamela Anderson were among the famous vegetarians included on sheets of limited-edition 44-cent stamps and honored by PETA (People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals) on November 29. According to the LA Times, Barker and Anderson were on hand to help promote the event, but it was Anderson who drew the most attention.  The stamps, featuring such other famous people as Woody Harrelson, Gandhi and Leonardo da Vinci can be purchased through Peta’s official website. Real Housewives Of New York's Bethenny Frankel's Talk Show Bites It

The Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel's branding machine just hit a snag in its quest for TV domination. The New York Post is reporting, the Bethenny Ever After star's daytime talk show's development has gotten the axe. According to the newspaper's site, Telepictures, Frankel's distributor was unable to secure a syndication deal. The site claims Frankel has gotten offers from cable channels, after Telepictures gave her the boot, while The Hollywood Reporter claims nothing has been given.

Regis Philbin is Exploring Return to Primetime

Regis Philbin may have hung up his hat at Live With Regis and Kelly, but don’t count him out just yet. According to the New York Post, Philbin is exploring a primetime talent show.

“We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family,” Philbin told Page Six, adding, “a family competition, which is something new in our business. It’s going to be on prime time when it happens.”
