Mad Men and Modern Family Lead 2011 Emmy Nominations
By Pop Confidential on July 14, 2011

The Primetime Emmy nominations were announced on July 14 and both broadcast and cable series had something to smile about. It’s no surprise AMC’s Mad Men earned a Best Drama nomination, plus 18 more for a leading 19 nominations. HBO’s Boardwalk Empire was close behind with 18 nominations, including Outstanding Drama, but will be competing against fellow HBO series Game of Thrones for the big award.
ABC’s Modern Family scored the most comedy nominations, with 17. Fox’s Glee picked up nominations in the Outstanding Comedy, Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor categories. The Big Bang Theory, The Office, Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock joined Modern Family and Glee as the nominees in the Outstanding Comedy category.
On the drama side, Friday Night Lights earned a much deserved Best Drama nomination. It also took home nominations for Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in the Lead Actor and Actress categories. The critically acclaimed CBS legal drama The Good Wife didn’t need an injunction to get nominations for Outstanding Drama, Lead Actress, two Supporting Actor nominations and two Supporting Actress nominations. Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins and the brilliant Margo Martindale earned nominations for FX’s Justified in the Lead Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories, respectively. Peter Dinklage earned Game of Thrones its only acting nomination in the Supporting Actor category, for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister. Showtime’s Dexter joined Boardwalk Empire, Friday Night Lights, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife and Mad Men with a Best Drama nominations.
What do you think of this year's Emmy nominations? Is there any series or actor who you think was snubbed of a nomination. AMC's The Walking Dead could make a strong argument for being robbed of an Outstanding Drama nomination. See the full list after the jump!
ABC Gives Brothers & Sisters The Boot!
By Jillian Bowe on May 13, 2011
Deadline is reporting ABC has decided to axe Brothers & Sisters. According to the site, ABC fought the good fight to bring the show back for a condensed season, but weren't able to do so. ABC decided to give the show's timeslot to another show, which obtained better testing and screening. Therefore, last week's episode became the series finale.
PC #32: Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy
By Pop Confidential on April 14, 2011
On today’s Pop Confidential podcast Jamey Giddens, Luke Kerr, Jillian Bowe, Regan Cellura and Akash Nikolas discuss the latest in TV, celebrity, movie and music news, including:
Donald Trump is taking on President Obama over the Birther issue, but not everyone is impressed by Trump’s presidential aspirations. Comedy icon Billy Cosby followed Trump as a guest on The Today Show and took on the would-be presidential candidate.
Ashley Judd reveals in her new book All That Is Bitter & Sweet: A Memoir that she was molested as a child. In the memoir she also makes anti-rap statements about P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg. Wynonna and Naomi Judd’s new series debuts on OWN.
Is Sunday night the new Must See TV night? Just two episodes in, Luke and Jillian are in love with The Borgias on Showtime. Sunday nights has Jamey tuning in to The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. The Star Jones vs. NeNe Leakes rivalry is must watch TV, but the antics of the other contestants are just as juicy to watch. Brothers & Sisters returned with two episodes, but is it time for the series to end its run? It is a crying shame the Jersey Shore cast is making six figures. How can a great show like The Good Wife be on the bubble? Would it be on the bubble if it aired on NBC or ABC?

ABC Renews Six Series!
By Luke Kerr on January 10, 2011

ABC handed out renewals for six of its popular series Monday. Shonda Rhimes’ Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice both earned additional seasons, as did the network’s Wednesday comedies Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town. Nathan Fillion’s Castle was the other ABC series renewed.
Of some concern to yours truly, was the lack of good news for my favorite Sunday series Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. Let’s hope we get good news about them soon.
