Mad Men and Modern Family Lead 2011 Emmy Nominations
By Pop Confidential on July 14, 2011

The Primetime Emmy nominations were announced on July 14 and both broadcast and cable series had something to smile about. It’s no surprise AMC’s Mad Men earned a Best Drama nomination, plus 18 more for a leading 19 nominations. HBO’s Boardwalk Empire was close behind with 18 nominations, including Outstanding Drama, but will be competing against fellow HBO series Game of Thrones for the big award.
ABC’s Modern Family scored the most comedy nominations, with 17. Fox’s Glee picked up nominations in the Outstanding Comedy, Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor categories. The Big Bang Theory, The Office, Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock joined Modern Family and Glee as the nominees in the Outstanding Comedy category.
On the drama side, Friday Night Lights earned a much deserved Best Drama nomination. It also took home nominations for Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in the Lead Actor and Actress categories. The critically acclaimed CBS legal drama The Good Wife didn’t need an injunction to get nominations for Outstanding Drama, Lead Actress, two Supporting Actor nominations and two Supporting Actress nominations. Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins and the brilliant Margo Martindale earned nominations for FX’s Justified in the Lead Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories, respectively. Peter Dinklage earned Game of Thrones its only acting nomination in the Supporting Actor category, for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister. Showtime’s Dexter joined Boardwalk Empire, Friday Night Lights, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife and Mad Men with a Best Drama nominations.
What do you think of this year's Emmy nominations? Is there any series or actor who you think was snubbed of a nomination. AMC's The Walking Dead could make a strong argument for being robbed of an Outstanding Drama nomination. See the full list after the jump!
Tina Fey Responds to Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Rant
By Akash Nikolas on June 12, 2011
Tracy Morgan recently drew a lot of ire from the LGBT community when he "joked" during a comedy stint in Tennessee that he would stab his son if he turned out to be an effeminate gay man. Since then, Morgan has apologized for the rant:
“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay and lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others,” Morgan said. “While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”
Now his 30 Rock co-star and boss, Tina Fey, has responded publicly to the issue. TV Line has the full story and you can read Fey's statement after the jump.
Is Alec Baldwin Leaving 30 Rock?
By Akash Nikolas on May 18, 2011
Alec Baldwin may leave 30 Rock after his contract is up. The Huffington Post reports that the two-time Emmy winner has one year left on his contract and is considering leaving the show after that. Says Baldwin:
"That's pretty much all I think about right now. To finish the show, I'm going to do this year then start thinking about what I want to do next. It's the big question. It's been a great experience, and I've loved doing the show. It changed my life. I'll never have it this good again, I know that. But I know that I've got to do something different, try something different. I don't know what that's going to be."
Could that "something" include political aspirations?
30 Rock Wanted Bill Clinton for 100th Episode!
By Akash Nikolas on March 04, 2011

Looks like Bill Clinton isn't trying to follow in the footsteps of late President Richard Nixon, who famously appeared on Laugh In during the 70's. The New York Post is reporting 30 Rock wanted the ex-Commander in Chief for a guest spot on their upcoming 100th episode. Tina Fey herself came up with the idea. Unfortunately, it did not happen. The request was reportedly denied by Clinton's camp without even asking him.
