Showtime’s fantastic dramedy Shameless returns on January 8 for its second season, and we can’t wait to see how  Fiona Gallagher juggles her crazy family this time around. However, before Emmy Rossum landed the role of Fiona, her first SAG  gig was on As the World Turns as Abigail Williams.  Included in a profile of SAG lead actress contenders by The Hollywood Reporter, Rossum remembers her ATWT audition:

My First SAG Job: On As the World Turns. I played Holden and Molly's daughter Abigail. I desperately wanted the part. I was 11 and had been studying X and Y chromosomes, dominant genes and recessive genes. I watched the show the day before my audition and realized the two actors who played the parents both had blue eyes. I had just learned in school that two blue-eyed parents can't have a brown-eyed child. So I went into the audition and said if they wanted me, I would go get contact lenses to have blue eyes. They cast me and said, "Make sure she brings her contacts."

After Pretty Little Liars’ spooktacular Halloween special episode, “The First Secret,” I’m growing impatient for regular episodes to return. Thankfully, new episodes are in sight. ABC Family announced Pretty Little Liars will return on January 2. PLL will be paired with the return of Alexandra Chando’s The Lying Game. Speaking of The Lying Game, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Veronica Mars star Charisma Carpenter will guest on ABC Family’s identical twin saga, according to TV Guide.

The cable network will premiere its new show, Jane By Design, on January 3, where it will join Switched at Birth.

 

Ruh roh, Vampire Diaries fans. On tonight's installment of The CW hit, viciously sexy werewolf/vampire hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) learns the Doppelganger aka Elena (Nina Dobrev) is alive, well and pining over his minion Stefan (Paul Wesley), just in time for Senior Prank Night. Expect plenty of toilet paper and bloodshed!

Meanwhile, hunky, sidelined Matt (Zach Roerig) will go to extremes to communicate with the dead, namely his sister Vicki (Kayla Ewell). Showrunner Julie Plec promises tonight's eppy of the supernatural sudser will be a game changer. I know I'll be tuning in to see which Mystic Falls denizens get got. What about you guys? If you’re hooked on Alexandra Chando’s The Lying Game, then here’s a bit of good news. According to Deadline, ABC Family has given the series, based on the novels by Sara Shepard, a back order of 12 episodes. This comes as the cable network canceled Nine Lives of Chloe King.
