President Obama Roasts Donald Trump and Matt Damon
By Akash Nikolas on May 01, 2011

Deadline reports that at the Annual White House Correspondent's Dinner, President Obama showed he had a comedic side (or at least a good team of comedy writers). The President roasted Donald Trump -- who had previously claimed Obama wouldn't dare take him on -- by poking fun at his reality show, and saying that Trump would focus "on the issues that matter. For example, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?"

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas are set to star in a Liberace biopic. Steven Soderbergh is the director, Douglas will play the title role, and Damon will play his younger lover. E Online reports that there will be more than one kiss between the two actors, and both men seem game:
"I never thought I would get to kiss Michael Douglas," [said Damon].
Shortly after the movie was announced, Douglas [said], "I just saw Matt...and I was teasing him," he said. "I was saying, 'Bring a lot of ChapStick, babe.' "

Rango Tops Box Office!
By Akash Nikolas on March 07, 2011
Johnny Depp's surprisingly well-reviewed film Rango topped the box office this weekend with $38 million, according to Deadline. The animated comedy-western edged out the Matt Damon/Emily Blunt thriller The Adjustment Bureau, which came in at number two with $20.9 million. Looks like all those Super Bowl ads for Rango did the trick! Beastly, the teen remake of Beauty and the Beast, clocked in at number three with $10.1 million.

Matt Damon No Longer a Fan of President Obama
By Akash Nikolas on March 07, 2011

Matt Damon was one of President Obama's biggest supporters during the 2008 electoral campaign, but now the Oscar-winning actor says he is no longer a fan. In an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, Damon criticizes Obama for—in the actor's opinion—not addressing poverty, mishandling the war in Afghanistan, and not initiating any meaningful reform on Wall Street. When asked point blank if he was still a fan of the President, the actor replied "no" and went on to articulate his grievances:
"He (Obama) misinterpreted his mandate. He's doubled down on a lot of things. In his State of the Union he didn't even say the word 'poverty,' You've got millions of people languishing in it. [I] definitely wanted more."

The "Green Zone" Fails to Get the Green Light
By Craig Peters on March 15, 2010
Despite great action scenes, this potentially fascinating look at the Iraq war is spoiled by weak story elements and almost no character development. Matt Damon once again manages to catch me up in his great grasp of character and I love him in this film. Green Zone is a look at the early days following the “Shock and Awe” blitzkrieg of G.W. Bush’s war. Like George Senior’s war, there were almost no casualties, but unlike his father, George W. couldn’t walk away and there were weapons of mass destruction to find. The problem – he couldn’t find them. No one in Green Zone seems to be able to find any either. Green Zone’s take… there were no WMDs and the U.S. government, or at least a few elements, knew it.
