Kevin Costner, Leo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx to Star in New Tarantino Film!

Quentin Tarantino's latest magnum opus-in-production, Django Unchained, has attracted quite a cast! Kevin Costner is the latest addition to a cast that already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and Tarantino's recent Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds). Costner and DiCaprio will star as partners-in-crime fight-trainers of male slaves for the entertainment of white patrons. Foxx will play Django, an ex-slave bounty hunter who takes on the villains to save his wife. Deadline has the full story.

Did the New York Times Really Snub Whoopi?

The New York Times recently ran an article about the dearth of black Oscar contenders among this year's nominees. In so doing, they mentioned many previous Oscar winners, but not Whoopi Goldberg who won Best Supporting Actress in 1990. Goldberg was upset about this and took it to The View, where she presented her Oscar to audience applause, nursed her wounds in front of a national audience and basked in her co-hosts sympathies while issuing the following remarks:

"I'm embarrassed to tell you, it hurt me terribly. When you win an Academy Award, that's part of what you've done, your legacy. I will always be Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg. And to be dismissed and erased by the New York Times film critics...it's sloppy journalism."

NBC Buys Jamie Foxx Mob Pilot

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has snagged Academy-Award winner Jamie Foxx's mob drama, Tommy's Little Girl. The show will focus on a woman who was raised in the mafia life as a young girl, and was hidden way in an orphanage when her  family was slaughtered by a rival crime family. The woman becomes an attorney, who also has a secret life as an assassin. The protagonist in the series is hellbent on getting revenge for her family's death, while tracking down her only surviving relative, says the magazine's website. Foxx will serve as the show's executive producer.
