The Back-up Plan

PC Exclusive: The Back-Up Plan's Noureen DeWulf Talks Appearing in Unscripted Hollywood Dream Role

Whether she's tormenting Matthew McConaughey in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past or stealing scenes as J.Lo's employee in The Back-Up Plan, Noureen DeWulf is doing it with a combination of bombshell good looks and impressive comedic timing, which has made her a favorite of lad magazine editors and casting directors alike.

Tonight at 9pm PST, the Indian American beauty, who ranked among Maxim's Hot 100 in 2007, will try her hand at Improv, by appearing in Unscripted Hollywood Dream Role at ACME Comedy Theater (135 N. La Brea Ave Hollywood, CA 90036). I caught up with DeWulf for Pop Confidential to chat about the "nerve wrecking" experience of performing in front of a live audience and how Hollywood finally seems to be coming around to Indian American actors, thanks to thesps like Kal Penn, Aziz Ansari and De Wulf. I also find out how she balances her sexsational image, with her comedic endeavors. Is she more a Bardot or a Ball? Her answer may surprise you.

Pop Confidential: You're doing Unscripted Hollywood Dream Role at ACME Comedy Theater tonight. How did the gig come about?

Noureen DeWulf: I love ACME theater and Charles Riley, who helps rope in talent, saw me a while ago and asked me if I would like to come and guest star in a show.

PC: Hence the name, Unscripted Hollywood Dream Role, you will like totally be doing this without a script! We know you can get your funny on, thanks to roles in movies like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and The Back-Up Plan, but are you at all nervous about flying without a script?

ND: Yes, absolutely. It's always nerve wrecking to get in front of a live audience and perform without a script, and with a script! READ MORE

The Back-up Plan Fails to Deliver

The rousing successes of baby-crazed films like Knocked Up and Baby Mama have given birth to an illegitimate, rom-com nightmare. Filled with syrupy dialogue, unpalatable attempts at witty banter, and every gross-out pregnancy gag in the book, The Back-up Plan is baby food at its blandest.

It’s been nearly three years since audiences have seen Jennifer Lopez on the silver screen. The actress took a hiatus from acting to have her very own bundles of joy with husband, Marc Anthony. And lest her derriere go without mention, let it be known that Ms. Lopez’s most distinguished asset is gratuitously displayed in multiple scenes (It’s so nauseating, ladies, it will give you morning sickness). Perhaps the actress felt a special affinity for her character, Zoe, a thirtysomething pet store owner who does what all single gals do when they’ve been lonely too long: gets artificially inseminated. But whatever Ms. Lopez’s reason for choosing this forgettable vehicle to kick-start her reemergence into the movie biz, she should have gone with Plan B – no matter what it was. READ MORE

The Back-up Plan Official Trailer

Check out the trailer for Jennifer Lopez's new film. It actually appears to be a funny, well thought out and marginally original idea. Lopez finds a new beau only to discover she's pregnant, not his baby but now his concern. Lopez looks her usual gorgeous self but more, she actually looks like she's acting. I'm thinking The Back-up Plan may be a Jennifer Lopez film to see. The trailer is after the break. READ MORE
