Variety is reporting that 2009 has already become the highest-grossing summer ever at the domestic box office. So far, the box office revenues are $4.17 billion, compared to $4.16 billion for summer 2007, the previous record holder. This Labor Day weekend should add another $100 million or more to the total tally, meaning thi summer would be up at least 3% in grosses over 2007.

I was just checking out the USA Today movie news and found myself in complete disagreement. Today's "Summer Movie Report Card" and it's conclusion that the "Season starts fast, then slips" is wrong.
