The King's Speech Leads 2011 Golden Globe Nominations!

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association kicked off the 2011 award season by announcing the nominations for the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air on January 16. The King’s Speech nabbed seven nominations, while The Social Network and The Fighter each picked up six.

On the television side, the Best Television Series Comedy or Musical category was dominated by the broadcast networks, with only Showtime’s The Big C and Nurse Jackie representing cable. In a tiny suburban community lies a dark secret: Gru, a master of evil, plots to steal the very moon from the sky. Set against him is the most powerful force in the universe… love.Three tiny orphans, Margo, Edith and Agnes see the dastardly Gru as the perfect papa and set out to win him over. That is Despicable Me, the latest release in the fight for summer box office dominance.

The plot is simple: Gru’s career as evil genius extraordinaire is in a slump and a young Vector, a rather slimy and nasty sort of villain, has pulled off the heist of the century. Vector has stolen one of the great pyramids of Egypt and the world is abuzz. Gru’s master of research, an old fossil of a man called Dr. Nefario, despairs of Gru’s loss of face and forces the evil genius to finally fulfill his destiny and pull off the greatest coup of his career, stealing the moon.

Steve Carell stars in what could be the funniest animated features next year. The trailer for Despicable Me is one of the best trailers I've seen this fall. It looks like a blast. Great idea's like this don't come together often so see it in the theater. I don't think you can go wrong on this one.
