Will James Cameron Direct Angelina Jolie in 3D Cleopatra?

All hail the Queen! And no I don't mean Queen Elizabeth, Helen Mirren, Queen Latifah or one-time silver screen queen Elizabeth Taylor. I’m talking about that wondrous beauty, and queen of Brad Pitt’s heart, Angelina Jolie who, according to Deadline, will possibly be directed by Titanic and Avatar heavyweight James Cameron in an upcoming 3D version of Cleopatra.

In other Jolie news, the actress is defending her first directorial project amidst controversy about the film's content. Centered on the love story of a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman, who meet at the beginning of the country's war, the yet-to-be-titled film tells how it impacted their relationship. However, according to People:

But once stories arose in Bosnia-Herzegovina that the film's love story concerned a Serbian rapist and his Muslim captive, objections were raised by the association Women Victims of War, who accused the film of presenting "misleading history." Their objections reportedly helped prompt Bosnia's culture minister, Gavrilo Grahovac, to revoke Jolie's permit to shoot in Sarajevo.

Avatar, Chills, Thrills, Spills and Incredible Eye Candy !

James Cameron's dream becomes our reality in Avatar: a delight to audiences and a great leap forward in movie making. Packed with some of the most thrilling special effects in film and with an attention to detail that seems pathological, Avatar brings to life a world new and fresh and as complete as the Earth herself. This attention to detail is what made such films as Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings legendary and will do the same for Cameron’s film. Avatar will forever change the way films are made!

Pandora, Cameron’s imagined world, is breathtaking. A beautiful, stunning and thoroughly real as any world ever made real on film but nearly all designed with and through the magic of computer graphics. Amazingly it doesn’t take a thing away from the delight of falling thousands of feet on the back of a dinosaur-like alien beast or facing an enormous panther-like carnivore. Pandora is as real as any world brought to the screen, including ours. READ MORE

Movie Maniac's Picks and Pans: Avatar and Did You Hear About the Morgans?

Feast and famine is the theme for this weekend's movie fare: Avatar is the feast; packed with action,a good (if familiar) story and some of the best CGI make James Cameron's new 300 million dollar blockbuster the absolute "film to see" this holiday season. The visual masterpiece breaks brand new ground in using vast numbers of humanoid characters rendered by computer, great battle scenes between technological terrors and biologicals and, apparently, an interspecies love affair.

On the famine list is Did You Hear About the Morgans?. I was actually looking forward to Did You Hear About the Morgans?, but by all reports it is an apparent waste of film, talent and the derisive target of America's critics.

Avatar, Strikes Hot!

Reviews are in and Avatar looks better than ever according to comicbookmovie.com. I don't want to belabor the point but according to reports Avatar isn't going to be just a movie, but a celebration of action with a great message and thrilling, realistic and riveting visuals. This will be the movie event of the year and could be the biggest leap forward in the Sci-Fi genre since Star Wars. I am thoroughly stoked about the film and will expect all you maniacs to be there opening weekend.
