'70s novel 'Scruples Natalie Portman as EP A Nighttime Soap Could Work!!

This fascinated me when I came upon this article of "Scruples" bestseller of '78 by Judith Krantz they are rebooting with JK's son Tony & EP Natalie Portman...WOW! as a prime time series, not a mini-series. I loved the book and the mini-series, it was pure soap. What is going on with ABC\Disney? ABC orders adaptation of for a series. ABC destroys decades of their daytime soaps and having oodles of prime time soap pilots...what's up? This sounds wonderful and all sudz!
