Glee Nov 8.
What a great episode last night! The teen group couples take a step farther and perhaps have sex but definately have stronger relationships. The gay couple not islanded and treated like a major couple on the show. Including getting competion from other gay guys for eachothers attention. It is a major step for tv. Blaine and Kurt wonder if they are ready for sex. They go to their first gay bar together. And it looks just like a local gay bar. It wasn't some hollywood version. It was also great to see Karofsky and his bearcub self at the bar. I think Kurt ought to keep him in his back pocket for a while incase Blaine runs off with the new gay boy. Coach Beiste continues to be my fav teach right now. I love her combo masculine self confidence and her feminine self doubt. It is a combo one does not ever see on tv where a woman gets to think of herself as undesirable and men not interested in her and the pain behind it. Then to actually see that she is pushing the men away because of her self doubt and to see a man actually pay attention to her is great. Also nice for Rachel and Finn to take an honest and non fantasy next step. So often she has her head in the clouds and he is just lost that it was nice to see them have to deal with real honest issues about sex. Whether any of these couples had sex or not, they have made huge steps in their relationship.
I know that once upon a not too long ago, the kissing and touching that was portrayed on Glee between Kurt and Blaine would have caused the network to put up warnings before airing the show. "Subject might not be suitable for all audiences". But Fox treated its audience with respect and the gay guys with the same respect that they showed for any other couple. It was refreshing and I for one feel that it made a huge step in mainstreaming gay people into the rest of society.
