I never heard of the Hurt Locker before last night...
I liked the tribute sung by James Taylor and John Hughes
like the red-carpet and acceptance speeches...
Kudos to Monique, Kathy Bigelow & Jeff Bridges ...
The Hurt Locker is one of many movies that came out at the wrong time. It was a low budget war picture that for some reason came out in the middle of the Summer. I think it should have came out after the Summer but before the Winter break so it would have a better chance of finding a audience. It is the lowest grossing Best Picture winner ever. I hope it finds a audience on dvd because it is a spectacular film.
Thanks I will be sure to check it out.
but it just blew me away...Woody Harrelson was up and I knew it but didn't connect the film he was up for
duh?
I just thought Avatar the big budgeted blockbuster was going to sweep the night it blew me away when the Hurt Locker took the major awards. I wub independent films and when David kicks Golieth's bum its even better
...it suprised the heck out of me that a low budget film had equal chance with Avatar
I am a huge Quentin Tarantino fan and I wanted Inglorius B. to win more...
I am still in heaven with the Hurt Locker winning. I was so peeved when the Golden Globes gave the award to Avatar, and even more when the Best Director went to James Cameron. Thanks to the Academy for making me a believer in people knowing a good film from a good hype. While Avatar broke tons of records it was a weak story.
Kudos to Kathryn Bigelow for making an amazing movie.
@ Cyberologist
I also wanted Inglorious Basterds ton win. I am not the biggest fan of Tarantino but I loved IB.
The hurt locker is a horrible piece of junk. Anyone who has been near Iraq knows this is pure defamation of the military and is surely a "MUST SEE" movie in White House circles. This movie makes the US Military appear clueless and full of mental midgets. . . .
The director of this movie could not have done more harm to the US military if she had tried. .. .it is clear, she tried very hard.
