One of my favorite classic actresses is Rosalind Russell. Her characters often seemed to have so much spunk and go get-emness.

Here are some of my favorites

Auntie Mame
Mrs. Pollifax-Spy
Sister Kenny
The Women
His Girl Friday

I'm not a big fan of Gypsy, but its worth it to watch it at least once.

I still have a bunch of her movies to watch, any recommendations?

It's too bad you didn't like Gypsy Luke. I can understand, it's not a great film, but I have an affection for it because I love Natalie Wood. I'm also a big Karl Malden fan and thought Rosalind gave a good performance in it.

Have you ever seen Rosalind in The Trouble With Angels? I LOVED her in that. It's about two girls at a Catholic school (one of the girls is played by Hayley Mills) and Rosalind is the Mother Superior. I really liked that movie. They came out with a sequel to that, Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows but it wasn't as good, imo.

I think my favorite Rosalind movie is His Girl Friday, followed closely by The Women and The Trouble with Angels.

I love her too-and put her in my fave actresses list. Many great ones mentioned. I LOVED her in The Women--she steals it.  The Trouble With Angels--I love that movie too! His GIrl FridayAuntie Mame--all great. Gypsy is a great musical--I really enjoy the movie,

IF you haven't seen Picnic with WIlliam Holden and Kim Novak--that is worth a watch. She pretty much steals the film too. And William Holden was one fine looking man--and a great actor.
