Bye Bye Bunny: The Playboy Club Cancelled

According to TVLine, NBC has given The Playboy Club the boot after airing three episodes. This news comes on the heels of Deadline reporting last week NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt would give the freshman show a little more time to rebound before making a decision to place it on the chopping block. No word on if the peacock network will air any of The Playboy Club's remaining episodes.

This is awful! The first show took a little bit to get going, but the last two episodes have been *phenominal!* It was mt favourite new show this year.
If every show tha'\s even vaguly original keeps getting canceled, I'm done with television.

Other than ABC's "Revenge", it's the only new show that I've been remotely interested in! I'd watch Eddie Cibrian in anything! This stinks, how do the networks expect us to get into watching their new shows when even they don't give them a chance? NBC is the worst to cancel prematurely, damn it!

I would have made it a modern show. I would have made it sort of like a reality show, not some lame period piece. Only cable is capable of creating decent period dramas, because it is not bound by all the content restrictions of network TV.

I would also probably make a Hooters scripted drama.

I really liked this show, it wasn't going to win any drama awards but it kept me entertained. What I don't understand is why did NBC think it would be huge in the ratings on Monday night against Castle and Hawaii 5-0 with a lead in like Sing off AND why cancel a show after 3 episodes then piss off what viewers you did have by not showing the last remaining episodes? It makes no sense, this is why people are giving up on network tv.

Does anyone know if they'll run the episodes online? It seems a shame to of spent money on the series and not even get to show it.

Ugh. I was just about to give this show a shot after being bored by Pan Am.

I really liked this show. It was clever with a charming and good looking cast. It is 1000 times better than the trash called Pan Am that ABC is shoving down our faces on Sundays. Playboy Club was just cursed from the begining by the gorgeous Eddie Cibrian because almost everything he is in gets canceled. He is probably the best looking guy on TV these days. Too bad NBC will lose me on Monday nights because we don't need another stupid news show. Also they picked up two very poor comedies Whitney and Up All Night (that I wanted to like but they are both terrible).

Well, duh. Those retro shows have little appeal to begin with. After you add in bad casting, a horrible lead-in and terrible scripts it's a sure fire flop.

NBC is just keeps cranking out the flops. They'll be on par with the CW in a couple of years.

I only saw the pilot on Hulu today I didn't know about it till I went there and they have three eppys up I like it...but I like that whole era of Chicago during Hefners stint before he went H-wood. I like it thus far again I have two more eppys to go but I was looking forward to the show...

Every time I like something on TV it gets cancelled that's whiy I don't invest in it and I loathe reality shows except Project Runway...I like scripted storytelling. Sorry this didn't make it pass a few eppys.

I just read on afterellen that Hulu will be showing the remaining episodes. I hope this is true because I actually liked some of the storylines. I didn't really care about Maureen and Nick but I loved the heck out of Alice and Sean the whole gay in the 60's was interesting.

Doesn't it seem like any prime time show Eddie Cibrian is in ends up being cancelled. Invasion, Tilt, The Starter Wife, Chase and now The Playboy Club.

Great! Once again a show I like gets canceled. This is why I won't invest in shows put out by the networks anymore. My mom and I were really enjoying this show a lot. We found it to be a great deal more interesting than PanAm, but we both said that NBC were idiots to put it up against Hawaii Five-0 and Castle. And the networks wonder why everyone watches cable instead.

Some actors are just cursed. Cibrian has gotten shot after shot to prove himself as a leading Man in prime time and has failed every time. This show was doomed before it even hit the air. Most television people predicted this would be one of the first shows to get axed and sure enough it was!Now its only a matter of time before "Whitney"follows it and bites the dust too, because that show is truly awful!

Eddie Cibrian is an adulterous pig... and karma's a bitch! Good thing he's got a nice rich wife who can pay the bills while he sits around tanning and working on his biceps. Where can the rest of us sign up to become a trophy husband?

I could care less what an actor does in his/her private time as long as they entertain me and Eddie Cibrian does; his gorgeous looks are a definite plus! I don't condone alot of the activities that go on in Hollywood but I try and let it not interfere with my objectivity when it comes to their projects. I, too, predicted the show wouldn't last since it had to go up against Hawaii Five-O and Castle (neither of which I watch).

rskuggs.....I thought "Whitney" would be the first show to get the axe, but it was actually picked up for a whole season. I don't understand it because it is so unfunny. At least it is to me!

Whitney Cummings must have pictures of someone in very compromising positions to have her horrible sitcom get picked up for a season as well as executive Producing another Horrible sitcom(2 Broke Girls)on CBS in a cushy time slot. Did i miss when she became the Queen of Network Television?

Ugg so tired of shows I like getting canned...I am starting to think any network exe's have no taste..the crappy ones are the ones getting picked up...sigh.

It wasn't the best show on but I thought it was pretty good and I really loved that it was something different. I really think 1) they should have gave it a longer chance and 2) move it becasue there is way to much on monday nights...I have having a heck of a problem trying to get it to record with everything else my household records on monday night. It's good but not good enough to run with castle/hawaii/etc.

what a shame...Sad
