Are The Real Housewives of NYC Not Rich Enough?

Could the current cast of The Real Housewives of New York be on their way out of the city? According to The New York Post, the ladies holding court on Bravo's Big Apple version of the uber popular franchise don't have the right amount of cash to flash onscreen. A source spills to the paper that the producers are looking to cast a whole new crew of housewives who are more in-line with the ladies on the west coast.
"They want an entirely new cast," says a source, "to replicate Beverly Hills. They want rich, rich women, like Adrienne Maloof and Camille Grammer, dripping in glamour and $10 million penthouses. And they don't want to fake it. They are discreetly reaching out to women who fit the bill."
Bravo's comment on the situation? "We are always casting for new housewives in every city." Rest easy fans, some of your faves could still be in the city, Bravo has never axed an entire cast before. Oh wait, the ladies of D.C. were. Just sayin'.

I don't really believe the Post story. However, I think a re-boot/re-cast could be a good idea. I tend to like the first season of these series. The second season usually suffers from the fact that now they know that their castmates are discussing them and judging them (on camera).
In the first season they haven't seen their lives digested by editors, with music and commentary added to their daily events. I think once they see it than it changes their behavior and the show just isn't as fun.
For example, this season Sonia had a crazy conversation with new housewife Cyndy about a hierarchy. However, within the context of their lives Sonia's advice seemed less absurd. After all, what she was really saying was that Romona brought Cyndy on the show, it will be great for her career, so Cyndy should be grateful and always offer Ramona a little pino. But, because they can't mention the fact that their job is to be on a tv show, the whole message looked coo-coo-crazy.

I agree with this decision. When the OC version started, it was about a bunch of high upper middle class SoCal housewives, and when it became apparent that they were not really that, I lost interest. New York was supposed to be about a richer higher society east coast version. Jill and Ramona make sense, because by all accounts, she does have real money, the countess made sense when she was married, but now she is divorced, and doesn't even live in NYC. What gets annoying is when they use being on the show to make money. The show is about us being voyeurs into the lives of these already rich women, not the women getting rich because we are watching them. It NEVER made sense that Alex and Simon were there. They obviously did not have the money of Jill and Ramona, and not to be a snob, but they live in Brooklyn. When you think of rich and high society New Yorkers, you think uptown Manhattan, not a re gentrified Brooklyn. The other ladies not being uber rich and well connected was okay when they were being compared to ATL and OC, but when BH came along, it showed what NY should/could be.
Jill and Ramona can stay because they have money and provide for good tv, but the rest can leave and be replaced by some housewives with serious money. I doubt they could find any real high society people, b/c none of them would do a reality show, well there is Tinsley Mortimer, and I would be just fine with that.
