ABC Gives Brothers & Sisters The Boot!

Deadline
is reporting ABC has decided to axe Brothers & Sisters. According to the site, ABC fought the good fight to bring the show back for a condensed season, but weren't able to do so. ABC decided to give the show's timeslot to another show, which obtained better testing and screening.  Therefore, last week's episode became the series finale.

I agree with craigcp. They have gone insane, first cancelling 2 soaps when they should have cancelled General Hospital. Now to cancel Brothers and Sisters. I stopped watching ABC Daytime - Now I will stop watching all of ABC. I hope there are enough people to protest on May 17th in New York. I don't know who is heading ABCTV but TPTB should start cleaning house from top to bottom.

I suppose we will get another bang bang shoot em up show compared to this. I enjoy so little TV and hate to see good shows get the axe. At the rate ABC is going I won't be turning on their network very much if at all. They seem to be digging their own grave one cancellation at a time.

Appears to be some night time soap drama. Maybe they will recruit our fav's from daytime??

I stopped watching Brothers & SIsters last year. Same ol Same ol.
Once Rob Lowe died...I lost interest.

However, if anyone wants to fill me in on what is going on with the characters to date, I am all ears!!! Wink

First, my daytime soaps are cancelled. Now, one of my primetime soaps isn't returning. What in the hell? Grrr... ABC is really ticking me off.

It disgusts me to see well-written, QUALITY scripted television slowly going the way of the dinosaur, while all these trashy a-holes like Snookie, "The Situation," the Kardashian tramps and the Real Housesluts of (fill in the blank!) get job security and INSANE amounts of money per week.

Something is DEFINITELY wrong with the landscape of TV. I think I might vomit right now...........

No!!!!!!!!!! B&B was my Sunday night guilty pleasure. I was so hoping that William Walker was really alive living in Florida with a woman that he fell in love with who turned out to be Saul's biological daughter and they had a couple of children. Of course, William figured out that this "woman" was Saul's biological daughter and instead of telling the man he opted to fake his death, marry the woman and begin a new family. Sigh. I guess my wish of Kevin accidentally finding out that his Dad was really alive and all of the drama with the family and Saul was not to be. ABC has lost their freaking mind! I was so hoping that Saul would tear into William for seducing his dauther in order to start another family. B&B on Sunday nights is a gold mine of family drama and soapy good fun!

So now ABC has 4 shows I will watch. The View, Greys, Private Practice, and soon to be gone GH. Damn, They are slowly but surely burying themselves. By the way, I quit DH when Army Wives came on. Much better show!
I loved Brothers & Sisters, Brilliant cast & stories!

If you read Deadline and EW, ABC was willing to give the show 13 episodes to wrap everything up, but some of the cast said no. Not defending ABC, just saying!!

I'm done with ABC. That comment on why they rejected Poe..."Castle set in the 1800's." This is a bad thing? Why did that comment make me feel like there was a target just placed on my favorite show? A smart, funny, exciting show that hits every beat? Oh. Yes. Because this is ABC/Disney. Guess I'll be sticking with USA Network shows and hoping NBC comes up with some winners. None of those new shows interest me in the slightest. The remake movies of Charlie's Angels destroyed that franchise and proved the original angels can't be replaced. I'd rather see strong, smart female characters like Beckett on Castle.

The ratings for the show were horrible, they were barely pulling in 6 million people per episode, that's a far cry from the 12 to 16 million that they used to draw. The show lost it's way too soon. The first season was great, and it had a lot of heart, but when the show's creator left, and they hooked up Rebecca and Justin, the show became as shallow as every other drama and soap.

I can't believe they cancelled this show and are saving DH. I like both shows but Brithers and Sisters is clearly the more serious show and I feel more connected to the characters.

Meh. The show had been in decline both creatively and ratings wise for years. It was time to end it.

I'm so sad. I loved this show. Half of the cast and writer's were involved with Alias and B&S was my saving grace after Alias was cancelled.

I was hoping to find the fans some where fighting for this show the same way they fought for passions and the Y&R when they killed off Cane. I guess this show was not as important to the fans. All I can say is I will not be watching the show that will be shown in the place of this wonderful show they have cancelled. This show brought the family back to television. We seem to have lost these types of shows due to the increase of reality tv. But I guess that is what the fans of today crave. not something as real as the family.
