Showtime Picks up Kristen Bell's House of Lies

If you aren’t watching Showtime, you should be. No other cable network has a portfolio of TV series that DEMAND priority when recording conflicts break out on your DVR. From its veteran comedy Weeds to its latest offering The Borgias, Showtime delivers every time. Not even my beloved USA or one-time favorite FX (The amazing Justified is the only show on FX that keeps me coming back) comes close. The quantity of Showtime's quality original programming makes it worth every penny you pay for it each month.
Now, there is another reason to tune in. Showtime is officially the new home of former Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell. According to Deadline, Showtime has picked up the comedy House of Lies, starring Bell and Don Cheadle, for twelve episodes.
Reportedly, along with House of Lies, Showtime announced the pickup of the thriller Homeland, starring Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin. This is a bit of a reunion for Patinkin and the network. Showtime viewers may remember him as Rube Sofer from the dark comedy Dead Like Me, which lasted two seasons. Like House of Lies, Homeland received a twelve episode pick up.

I absolutely agree with you that Shotime is by far the best cable channel for original scripted programming. I will go so far as to say they have the networks beat as well. My ONLY issue with the cable network is that I have to WAIT so long between seasons. I wish maybe they would do 6 episodes and 6 episodes later on or have two 12 episode seasons a year. I can't stand that I have to wait a whole year for Episodes or Shameless. I however am getting my Nurse Jackie and USof Tara right now. Can't wait for Dexter and Weeds! Welcome any and all Shotime series because they are simply the best. Now if only they show a decent movie once in a while...... I don't believe I have ever one time sat down and watched a movie on this cable network lol.

Luke,
I love Kristen Bell. She's great but this isn't Bell's show. This is Don Cheadle's show. Cheadle is the star and producer.
Bell may be a fan favorite but is it fair to Cheadle, an Oscar nominee, to not be credited as the lead of the show?

Yes! Kristen Bell belongs on TV. Aside from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, she should have NEVER made movies. I'm so glad she's on Showtime who has a proven record of making quality TV instead of being on a CBS or Fox comedy that would just bomb. Tis a dream come true.

Thanks josstheguy, I was thinking the same thing, how did the entertainment veteran, oscar nominated, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy award winning actor and not least the actual producer the show get knocked off his proper billing. Kristen Bell is good in her own right but does she really out bill the Don
