James Franco Blames Writer Bruce Vilanch for Lame Oscars

Now you see it, now you don't. The Wrap is reporting that after weeks of silence regarding his roundly criticized stint as an Oscar host this year, James Franco finally spoke out via Twitter. The eclectic actor tweeted "Bruce, he let me down", referring to perennial Oscar show comedy scribe Bruce Vilanch, and then posted a photo of himself with Vilanch. Franco removed the tweet minutes later, but it was too late: it had already been screen-capped by many of his followers. Then, he re-tweeted the comment and re-posted the picture with an air bubble of Vilanch saying, "James f***ed up the Oscars. Trust me, I know comedy. I mean, come on, I write for Bette Midler!"

I'm starting to wonder if everything odd Franco does is really part of some massive performance art project yet to be unveiled. Share your theories in the comment section!

I see James Franco is playing "Lets pass the buck".

Ok, I will join the game. Many shows have lousy writing but the actors manage to pull out some good stuff and bring the bad writing together. For instance, Two and a Half Men have had some bad writing, but the cast manage to make the show funny. Another example is "The Event". Please the writing is so bad on that show, that I dont even know if the writers are aware that nothing is being achieved. But guess what, the actors manage to bring the show together. I could go on and on, but I wont.

I just wanted to participate in the game of "Lets pass the buck". James its your turn again.

Met I agree with you. My take was it's his job to be a performer and make whatever he is handed work. I never thought he was that talented, in fact I think he's kind of a jerk off and when I heard he was coming to GENERAL HOSPITAL I was like...so? Now if Jake Gyllenhal were to show up on a soap I would take notice. Franco is just stud du jour, and already that dish has grown cold.

James Franco's brother Dave is the one who should and probably will be a star. That young man is incredibly funny and soooo sexy.
