Why The CW Should Hold a Reality Competition to Replace Dawn Ostroff

The CW is preparing to transition into new era of management. According to the New York Post, CBS and Warner Bros. are interviewing 10 candidates to replace The CW's entertainment president Dawn Ostroff, when she leaves the network later this year.
One source said CBS boss Les Moonves and Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer have been in discussions about the future of the network, including whether the venture continues to make sense for both parties. CW is seen as a valuable outlet for Warner's programming.
CBS insiders, however, insisted both partners are committed to the joint venture.
Don’t expect Ostroff’s departure to overturn the egg basket, as it were. Reportedly, Ostroff is still the one choosing The CW’s new series for next fall.
Too bad CBS and Warner Bros.’ search for a new network head wasn’t a reality competition like American Idol. Imagine a show that forced potential candidates to compete for viewer’s votes based on their expertise, past successes or failures and vision for a network. Now that is a reality series I would watch!

This woman is to blame, as far as I'm concerned, for the loss of two of my favorite shows(and probably more than that): Everwood and Veronica Mars. I remember the crap she replaced 'Everwood' with: some show about a family that was in a witness protection program. It lasted ONE episode before it was canceled. And while Kristen Bell soared after the demise of 'Veronica Mars', that program needed nurturing and a proper introduction to the CW fans, after being saved from the atrocity that was UPN. The show received neither.
You know what the worst part is? I have no doubt that Ms. Ostroff's future is bright, despite her poor performance. She could very well end up the head of one of the big four networks one day.

To be fair, though, no other network executive would have given either "Veronica Mars" or "Everwood" a second (or third) season, assuming they would even develop the series in the first place. Based on ratings, they probably wouldn't have let either show finish off their first ones- and the same can be said about a lot of shows that have been and currently are on the CW.
I can understand why people fault her for certain shows, but only to a point because when I look at the CW's schedule it's remarkably consistent, even for shows that don't seem to have a substantial audience. I'm probably biased, though, because it's also the only major network (outside of Fox, maybe) that really supports shows with an obvious supernatural edge. So, I hope she does wind up somewhere else.

I'll do it! I know TV and I'll do it for half the price.

Lol, that would make an all too funny reality series!
I'm really angry that Dawn Ostroff is still alowed to pick the new series for the CW's fall season. I hope that whoever they get to replace her takes a good look at what's working and what isn't [not just ratings wise but story-wis ase well] and decides to cancel any shows that are doing poorly or dumb down the network.
