Will Blake Lively Play a Young Carrie Bradshaw?
By Luke Kerr on February 08, 2011

Could Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively take on the role of Carrie Bradshaw in a Sex and the City prequel? According to Grazia magazine, Michael Patrick King has expressed interest in adapting Candace Bushnell’s Summer and the City to the big screen and has his eye on Blake Lively for the role of Carrie.
Unfortunately for Pop Confidential’s Jamey Giddens, the fab four might not appear in the prequel.
“There are no plans to bring SJP and the other girls back together in the old format,” says an insider. “The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man.”

If SATC2 had not been such a dud, would they still have been doing a prequel now without the Fab 4, instead of SATC3?????

Jon, I am sure there were always plans to develop The Carrie Diaries (Candace Bushnell's new teen novels about a young Carrie) into some sort of film or TV project. Summer and the City is the second book in the franchise, so I bet Hollywood is hoping a young Carrie in the 80's will lure in a new generation of fans. Not sold on Blake Lively though. Love her on GG, but I picture a young Carrie as a bit awkward and quirky, not supermodel gorgeous.

Blake Lively is a DECENT actress, but kinda boring and blah. I'd rather see Leighton Meester play Carrie Bradshaw. Die her hair blonde and go with it.........

I like Blake, but I'm not sure if I can see her as Carrie. Maybe she could play a young Samantha.

I like Blake as Serena but she couldn't pull off the elegance and quirkiness of Carrie Bradshaw. However Emma Roberts, or Leighton Meester should be casted instead.

Blake Lively is one of the least exiting actress of her generation but i have no intention of seing anything related to Sex and the City ever again, so i guess i shouldn't care...

I agree with other’s. I love Blake, really, I do, but she is no Carrie Bradshaw. Carrie is the relatable one in the group. The awkward, quirky girl who gets robbed in ally's in broad daylight and falls down on the runway in front of a hot photographer and Heidi Klum. The one who's Mr. Big would leave her for a Ms. Perfect like Blake Lively, a sex-bomb with the statuesque figure and perfect boobs. Remember Big and Natasha? LOL. Yeah. Blake as Carrie wouldn't work IMHO.

I think Blake is great if you were choosing another role that's similar to Serena, but as Carrie Bradshaw HELL NO. Blake is mediocre at best when it comes to acting; all her roles consist of the same types and if not, she still acts the same in them. I've yet to see Blake do anything where I saw something new from her.
I really have no interest in even seeing another "Sex and the City" anything but if they're going to twist my arm, cast someone worthy of the role. I agree with most, Leighton would be the better bet. I would even agree with Emma Roberts because she is very talented as well.
If we're just going with 20-25ish blondes in general, I'd even go as far as saying either AnnaLynn McCord or Hayden Panettiere. Hell, I'd throw in Emma Watson over Blake, she's a great actress and capable of pulling off Carrie IMO.

I think Leighton Meister would make an awesome Young Carrie. Can't quite see Blake in that role.

Blake Lively is a horrible actress; I just watched 3 seasons of GG because of Tika's Raina character coming on...maybe her acting is better in S4 but what I have seen I'm not at all impressed...when the Hillary Duff actress guest starred I could see the huge skill of this actress against Serena who came across really horrid. Even Bree Williamson (OLTL) outacted her in her guest stint as a prostitute.
Her character (Serena) is my least favorite she's always apologizing "I'm sorry", or saying "you have my word' "I wouldn't do that" then she does it...I've thrown my house-slipper at the TV when this mindless twit has been on my screen. Shallow is an understatement.
They are all entitled, rude and ridiculous...but she grates my nerve... I'm not in this demo group but I liked Clueless and many of these teen movies I can roll with them.
What struck me is how these (then in high school) can walk in bars and order drinks like where is the police?
As for Sex City the movie I saw was equally as horrible...just a GGirl all grown up...very bad script. I agree this franchise could just die out and I wouldn't care and I was a huge fan of the TV series...when Carrie wound up broke and couldn't buy a condo because she invested more than $40,000 in shoes...I turned in my fan card...no way should I be watching a character this stupid.
