Dawn Ostroff LEAVING The CW After This Season!

One of the most polarizing figures in recent television history is set to leave her post. Deadline's Nellie Andreeva broke the news that Dawn Ostroff will likely be exiting her gig as president of entertainment of The CW at the end of this season.

Ostroff has been prexy of The CW since its inception. Prior to that she ran UPN and before that Lifetime. The exec is said to be relocating to NYC for family reasons.

Personally I think it will be good to shake things up a bit at The CW. While niche hits like Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and Nikita have been ushered in under Ostroff's watch, the exec also famously gutted cult fave Veronica Mars and essentially whitewashed the network by getting rid of popular urban series like Everybody Hates Chris and The Game, the latter of which was picked up by BET (New episodes begin Jan. 11, 2011). Hopefully her replacement will prove a little more inclusive in his or her programming strategy.

Hallelujah! I will never forgive this woman for killing Veronica Mars and replacing it with so many failures. My brother wanted her head after she canceled Everybody Hates Chris. She shouldn't be allowed to be anywhere near TV.

A television programming job is the closest thing we have to a king being entertained by a jester in court. The job consists of people coming to your office all day and telling you stories. Those stories which catch your interest are then converted into shows. It is therefore impossible to hold the job forever because inevitably what continues to interest you will not interest most people and then you don't get to choose the stories anymore. Networks can run focus groups but, trying to predict consumer interest is like trying to get Jamey and Luke to agree on two things in a row. So, in the end, it is just a matter of taste and only very few people get to have their taste compensated.

Given that we all have opinions, anyone who has ever watched television is qualified for that job but only a few can hustle from a local news reporter to years in programming that will probably earn her enough money that she probably won't ever have to work again.

Goood! I will never forgive this woman for wanting Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton gone. We all know it was her doing having them leave One Tree Hill.

Finally!!!! Will never forgive her for the 11th season of "7th Heaven" instead of renewing "Everwood", axing "Veronica Mars" and standing behind the firings of Hilarie Burton and CMM on "One Tree Hill".

Agreed, the fact that she still had a job, after those disasters is beyond me. I am with you Jamey, hopefully the new president is more DIVERSE and INCLUSIVE in his or her approach.

This decision is several years too late. This broad canceled almost every show I watched on the CW. I am especially mad at her for dropping the axe on VERONICA MARS and REAPER.
