Except for The Tudors, I don’t think I’ve looked forward to a Showtime series as much as I have The Borgias. Set in the high stakes world of papal intrigue, The Borgias stars Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo Borgias and focuses on the father turned pontiff’s masterful manipulations of family, church and state.

With a tagline like “The Original Crime Family”, how can one not expect it to be The Tudors meets The Sopranos, with a big dose of medieval Catholicism? Watch the juicy trailer after the jump!
