Warner Bros Sinks Fangs Into Buffy The Vampire Slayer Movie

Talk about a movie that will have some high expectations! According to Deadline, Warner Bros is working on a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer film. The first Buffy movie hit theatres in 1992, but was later adapted into the TV series on The WB, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. TV's Buffy also gave us the spinoff Angel with David Boreanaz, who now stars on Fox's BONES.

Buffy and Angel signed off in 2003 and 2004 respectively, but in today’s world, where online media, social networks and vocal fan bases put every little detail under the microscope, there is bound to be pressure on the new film.

OMG you can bet I'll be in the theatres for that! Buffy was my shiotz!

I wonder though, will they pick up after the season left off or will they make up a whole other plot? Joss Whedon did this same thing with 'Firefly' by making the follow-up movie 'Serenity'. I loved the heck out of that movie. He gave a perfect closing to fans after we'd been jilted from the show being cancelled with but one season.

This obviously puts the final nail in my dream of BTVS: TV Series making a big screen movie like the X-Files or Sex in the City. Joss' version still lives in comics. Season 8 is about to wrap (after 3 years/40 issues) Season 9 will launch sometime in 2011. I agree with Luke's prediction. This movie will be under scrutiny by the blogosphere and other social media outlets. Joss' response was funny and contained his usual wit. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b212644_joss_whedon_r...
