Kristen Bell Offers to Finance Veronica Mars Movie!

On a recent episode of the Daytime Confidential podcast, we asked Veronica Mars alum-turned-The Young and the Restless breakout Michael Muhney if he thought a movie version of the cult mystery serial would ever happen. Never fear, Sheriff Lamb, because Veronica herself is on the case! Kristen Bell recently talked to The Hollywood Reporter  at the premiere of You Again revealing she is willing to pony up her own loot to finance a big screen adaptation of the cult hit.

The actress told The Hollywood Reporter at Wednesday's "You Again" premiere that she "absolutely would" finance a "Veronica Mars" film herself -- if the studio would release the property.

"It's a business and the sad truth is that ... they're not going to relinquish the rights to something and let us do it," Bell told THR. "We really have to do it with them because they own it."

If WB doesn't want to do it, then they really should give up the rights rather than let them go to waste. I have joined every VM movie campaign there is. I hope they make this movie---it NEEDS to happen!

Michael Muhney probably wouldn't be in it because his character died in the third season.

This is upsetting! I love Kristen Bell, but she has been in stuff post VM that has been disappointing to me as a fan (but most likely give her financial stability). I have come to peace w/the fact that I won't get any closure w/"Veronica Mars", so when I hear news like this I've learn not to give my hopes up.

I will never forgive that Dawn O. for canceling it and replacing it w/that Farmer Wants A Wife garbage.

I will never give up hope. The only thing I have accepted is that there is still a chance for a VM movie.

I tweeted about this earlier. I'd do anything for there to be a VMars movie. Dawn O. did this show wrong. They just need to relinquish the rights and let them make a movie or even a web series like KBell said she'd do. Over 3 years since the cancellation and I still haven't recovered from this cancellation.

we finally found something we can agree on!! Beer Laughing out loud AC

If the WB has zero interest in doing a big screen movie, then yeah they owe it to the fans to give Kristen some sort of limited rights to the characters. Bottom line here is if the movie bombs then oh well the WB wasnt going to make it any way, so they lost nothing. If the first movie is a huge hit, the WB still owns the characters and could make oodles of money from a second film or a comic book or whatever, not to mention they could probably agree to release the rights to the characters in exchange for the profits should there be any. To me this is a WINNING proposition for the network.
