PC #05: 2010 Emmy Nominations With TV Guide's Damian Holbrook

On today’s super-sized Pop Confidential episode Jamey, Luke, Regan and Jillian are joined by TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook for a hilarious discussion of Mel Gibson’s melt downs, Lindsay Lohan’s jail sentence, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston’s reunion and Paris Hilton’s pot problems.

They then dive into the 2010 Emmy nominations and choose who they would like to see take home the golden statue. Can ABC’s Modern Family or Fox’s Glee beat out the veteran comedies they are up against? Will the academy give Friday Night Light’s Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton the recognition they so richly deserve or will they be trumped by the likes of Lost’s Matthew Fox and Julianna Margulies? Is the Supporting Actress in a Comedy category Jane Lynch’s to lose?

A Pop Confidential episode wouldn’t be complete without discussing the latest shenanigans of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Damian then dishes about the upcoming The Real Housewives of D.C. and how these new ladies take the franchise to a whole new level.

All this and a Pretty Little Liars discussion on today’s Pop Confidential podcast!

A few picks:

Best Drama Series - Breaking Bad
Best Comedy Series - Modern Family
Best Actor in a Drama Series - Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad
Best Actress in a Drama Series - Julianna Marguiles, The Good Wife
Best Actor in a Comedy Series - Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Best Actress in a Comedy Series - Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation

I love 30 Rock but I'll be really bothered if any of the cast wins Emmys this year--truth be told, the show wasn't that great...and it ought not be rewarded just because it's a great franchise. Sorry, Tina.

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series - Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad

It didn't sound like anyone on the podcast was a regular Breaking Bad watcher which was a little disappointing...once you've seen the season, I don't know how you can deny that Aaron Paul deserves the Emmy.

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series - Christina Hendricks, Mad Men

I love The Good Wife, particularly Archie Panjabi who's a scene stealer, but I'd be SHOCKED if Hendricks doesn't win this. She was brilliant in "Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency." BRILLIANT. And that final scene with Jon Hamm...it kills every time.
