BREAKING NEWS: Spiderman and Milk Superstar James Franco to General Hospital!
The twitterverse erupted overnight with buzz regarding A-list film actor James Franco (Spider Man, Milk) possibly heading to General Hospital. The pandamonium occured when The Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels told followers on her page about her dinner date with best pal Vanessa Marcil, tweeting,
She said James Franco is doing 2 months on the show and she would consider going back for that time to work with him.
Now what on earth are those crazy kids at GH trying to do with all this casting?
The news was co-signed by none other than GH leading man Steve Burton himself. Here's what Burton tweeted back when a fan asked about the casting news:
Franco is… don’t know about Vanessa.
Numerous setside sources have confirmed to Daytime Confidential that Franco has indeed been in talks to join the soap for a short run.
"The show was trying to hold the news until it was set in stone, but if Steve is tweeting it, then it's okay to confirm," says one mole.
Reportedly, Franco will tape several shows during a short amount of time that will be stretched out on air for a few months. As for Marcil, sources say all she has to do is tell GH she's ready...
UPDATE: General Hospital show runner Jill Farren Phelps is one happy homegirl today. First Jonathan Jackson returns, now James Franco is guest starring on her soap! Here's what the show runner said to the Associated Press.
"It's an honor that an actor of Franco's caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles."
I don't know why Jill trying to play it cool. She know she jumped up on her desk and did The Running Man, The Cabbage Patch, The Stanky Leg, The Bankhead Bounce and the Roger Rabbit when the deal was made!

Awesome news but were are they getting all this money I know they weren't paying Sarah Brown that much. Maybe Franco is doing it for cheap for the learning experience I did read he was going to do a movie afterwards maybe its about a soap star who knows.

Oh Freaks & Geeks...the way I feel about that show is like how Season feels about Pushing Daisies. I love James Franco! He was the bright spot in Pinneapple Express! And he was in all 3 Spiderman's! Three of the biggest movies of all time.
I read he's doing this for research for a part in a movie. I don't know if that's true, but even if it is who cares! James 'freakin' Franco will be on GH!!! Got to give props to GH!

This is great news. Soaps is in a decline and they need all the publicity and help that they can get. This is a major casting coup just like Elizabeth Taylor in the 80s. I can't wait for the actor and what s/l he will be in.

KIRSTEN DUNST TO AMC AND TOBEY MAGUIRE TO OLTL!!!!! I don't believe it either. Movie actors just really don't go back and do soaps; they just DON'T. Elizabeth Taylor did, but where was her career at the time...I don't think producers were exactly knocking down her door. James is a busy and in-demand working film actor. When I actually see him on my small screen in Port Charles or Franco himself confirms it, then I'll believe it.

as far as JF goes and disbelief, the guy is a huge talent who, from what i've read, is on the verge of abandoning acting. he's pursuing his degree abroad. i say woo-hoo! now maybe people will shut up about soap actors being below par (oh i know there are some who are, but plenty of big screen actors aren't much better)
as for marcil only saying she'd return to work with JF - does anyone else find that kind of insulting?
