Nine: Who Cares What the Movie's About?

With talent, style and legs, who's concerned with the content? I was sold on Nine before I read word one. The cast reads like a who's who of feminine star power: Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson and two of the greatest actresses of all time, Sophia Loren and Judi Dench. With Rob Marshall (Chicago) directing, count me in for an Oscar nomination.

Nine is Federico Fellini's 8 and a Half only in musical form. Semi-autobiographical, Nine is roughly the great director's story. Fictional character Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) is a world famous director forced to cope with the many powerful women in his life: Mistress (Penelope Cruz), friend and costume designer (Judi Dench), film star and inspiration (Nicole Kidman),  Sophia Loren as his mother and Marion Cotillard as his wife. We should all have such problems.

The film could very well be the front runner for the little gold statue, though with the change in the Oscar format it's anyone's guess.
